Invitation for Workshops
Spiritual Care Summit ‘09

HEALTH AND HOPE:
The Hard Reality of Living Intentionally in a Village of Care
Orlando, Florida

Proposals Due: May 2, 2008

On behalf of the Spiritual Care Collaborative, we would like to invite 90-minute workshop proposals for the Spiritual Care Summit ‘09 in Orlando, Florida, February 1-4, 2009.

We share a common home, a common village.
We are members of the village of care who bring a spiritual and faith perspective.
Our village lives in conflict with the world.
We speak of hope, of change, of transformation, of community and of faith.
Much of the world around us shouts with a voice of control, of power, of class – of isolation.

The hard reality is that we speak with an uncommon voice from a common community –
a community of persons who know that we live in a broken world
and yet keep on working to bring wholeness and hope.

The Spiritual Care Summit ’09 will bring together the member organizations of the Spiritual Care Collaborative and others who share a common goal of providing spiritual care to individuals, communities, institutions, and the world.

The workshops we seek will provide opportunities for each member organization of the gathering community to learn from and with each other. The workshops will speak across disciplines and faith traditions to what we each cherish, seeking common ways to understand and address the theme of our gathering.

While we are interested in a variety of proposals, please keep in mind the conference theme. We would like our workshops to offer broad opportunities for learning beyond our accustomed boundaries and traditions.

  • Imagine creating a place where theology meets practice…and practice meets theology.
  • Imagine finding common understandings between and within diverse expressions of faith and compassion.
  • Imagine presenting with another association’s members…discussing a common issue from an uncommon perspective.
  • Imagine creating workshops with a colleague from another discipline.
