Conference Registration Hours

The AAPC Registration Desk will be located at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel where a list of pre-registered attendees will be available. Hours of registration are:

  • Wednesday, March 26th, 2:00PM - 5:00 PM
  • Thursday, March 27th, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Friday, March 28th, 8:00AM – 2:00PM
  • Saturday, March 29th, 8:00AM – 2:30PM

Samaritan Institute Members

Workshops of particular interest to Samaritan Institute Members are being offered. Members of the Institute will be eligible to receive registration at AAPC membership prices.

T-Shirts - An Opportunity to Help

T-shirts exclusively for AAPC were designed by women recently released from prison. By purchasing a T-shirt, you will help these women meet their personal goals to complete their educational and rehabilitation program. The attractive shirts are made of 100% cotton. Please order via the registration form. Cost $15.

Climate and Attire

Most places that you visit will be casual dress. Norfolk enjoys a temperate Mid-Atlantic climate moderated by its proximity to the Gulf Stream. Average yearly high temperature is 67.4°F, average low is 51°F. The city sees approximately 237 days of sunshine – or, about 65% of the days are filled with clear skies.

Spouses/Partners & Guests Welcome

Spouses/Partners of AAPC members are encouraged to attend the Conference where a special rate is offered. Plenary addresses and numerous workshops will be of particular interest and all attendees can earn continuing education credits. All guests must register to attend program events; badges are required. In addition to the conference, Norfolk offers exciting places to explore on your own and many are within 2 blocks of the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.

Child Care Services

The Marriott does not provide child care. Child care is available through Babysitters of Tidewater 757-456-2025. Neither AAPC nor the Norfolk Waterside Marriott can be held liable for any problems that may arise from child care providers/services.

Safety

As in any city, be alert and travel in pairs or groups. Plan your route; ask at the front desk of the Marriott for directions and advice about safety in the area.

Need a Roommate? Split expenses & Save!

Do you need a roommate? Email requests to the AAPC Office (AAPCconference@aapc.org) by February 29th, subject line: "AAPC Conference Roommate," and include name, address, email, day/evening phone numbers, arrival and departure dates, gender, smoker or non-smoker, whether you will share a room with a smoker, and other pertinent information. Your information will be shared with others in need of a roommate. Individuals are responsible for all arrangements including accommodations.

Student Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships will be sponsored by AAPC Regions and the Association to provide partial support to attend. Aid is dependent upon funding availability and individual need. Scholarships average approximately $325.

Scholarships are to further the Association’s goal of encouraging attendance of group members not adequately represented in AAPC Members are eligible for Association conference scholarships if they: 1) have no other continuing or professional education funds available; 2) submit a written reference from an AAPC member who oversees the work of the candidate and is familiar with and can attest to his/her financial need and circumstances; 3) indicate the need for financial aid, if applicable; and 4) are current with AAPC dues.

Scholarship Application deadline is February 1st. Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis. Book Store

Cokesbury will be back at the conference again this year. They will offer an assortment of books, including those introduced by guest speakers and workshop presenters.

No Smoking Please

The Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel is non-smoking.
